The death of a friend of the Ibizan film director Igor Fioravanti inspired the story of ‘El sueño de Ibiza’. Fioravanti told Diario de Ibiza’s newspaper that following the death of his friend, he thought about if “it is worth or not to live quietly for 80 years without passion or live it up all with the risk of dying too early”.
‘El sueño de Ibiza’ is the first feature film written and directed by Fioravanti, and so far, it is the only title of a film trilogy about the island that he is now preparing. Fioravanti has also directed several commercials, including some work for the Ministry of Social Affairs of Spain, the beverage company KAS and the famous Swedish corporation IKEA.
Fioravanti debut film was produced by the company Maestranza Films, which had reached a booming commercial and artistic sucess with the production of the film by Benito Zambrano, ‘Solas’ (1999).
The film credits include the Ibizan film director David Marqués as an assistant director. As a result of a good relationship between Marqués and Adrià Collado, one of the stars of ‘El sueño de Ibiza’, the catalan actor has starred in two feature fillms shot by Marqués in Ibiza: ‘Aislados’ (2005) and ‘Deshechos’ (2010).
