Shortly after receiving a César Award for Best Actress in 1983, Sophie Marceau did a photo shoot in Ibiza for the magazine Paris Match. The actress was 16 and began an interesting film career, ranging between commercial cinema and auteur. ‘Anthony Zimmer’, distributed in Spain as ‘El secreto de Anthony Zimmer’ belongs to the first category. Jérôme Salle’s film was released in France on April 27, 2005, he got good reviews and performed well at the box office. Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck did a remake of ‘Anthony Zimmer’, entitled ‘The Tourist’ (2010) starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

‘Anthony Zimmer’ was filmed in Paris, Cannes, Nice and Ibiza. The shooting took place on the island in July 2004. According to French director Jérôme Salle in the “making of” he mentioned: the main reason for filming in Ibiza was because they needed a certain type of construction, according to the director, found only on the island. “We wanted to shoot in France, we searched a lot but could not find that kind of house, the only place we could find such a house is in Ibiza. As Anthony Zimmer is not seen in the film, the house is the only hint of his personality. It had to be the home of a wealthy person. Without being vulgar but with personality. I wanted a house of this style, inspired by Le Corbusier. Although smaller than expected, we found it there. It gave us a lot of work. The first floor had to be added, and on top of that we had the place for a short time, about two weeks of shooting. However I found that it fitted very well to what was Anthony Zimmer “.
